Ford's latest-generation Mustang has arrived in the UK with right-hand drive to satisfy the nation's muscle car enthusiasts. It boasts a refreshed look that is still unmistakably Mustang and hits the road with unrestrained performance.
When it comes to looks there is no alternative to the Mustang. Its sculpted body hints at the power hidden under the bonnet, while the aggressive expression attracts attention from other road users. Its low slung stance starts at a sporty mesh grille holding the famous Mustang emblem and ends at an equally memorable rear. Here, tri-bar tail lights sit above a distinctive rear diffuser with dual exhaust pipes. There are two shapes available – Fastback and Convertible – so you can opt for a coupé-like profile or the thrill of open-top motoring.
The interior is just as memorable while also being comfortable and supportive. The cockpit design helps to enhance your driving experience and places the most important controls within easy reach. Stylish ambient lighting joins practical door map pockets and cup holders, while the leather steering wheel has integrated controls.
This modern muscle car impresses with more than its driving excitement but its in-car features too. Each model arrives with an eight-inch colour touchscreen as part of the SYNC 2 infotainment system. Integrated Bluetooth® with Voice Control, Ford Emergency Assistance, USB connectivity and a DAB radio are all accessed through the system. Ford Key-Free and Push Button Start enable you to begin each journey effortlessly, while a rear view camera helps you ease the burly model into and out of spaces.
Out on the road is where the Mustang really shines, and for this generation Ford has refined the car's eager performance without removing any of the fun. There are two versions to choose from, and at the top of the range is the 5.0-litre V8 GT. This muscular unit produces 418PS and 524Nm of torque to surge forward with a satisfying growl when you dip the accelerator pedal. It completes 0-60mph in around 4.5 seconds, but if you want extra efficiency the manufacturer also offers its frugal 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. With a direct-injection and twin-scroll turbocharger there's no lack of pace, and you benefit from surprisingly high fuel economy too.
The safety of all road users hasn't been compromised for power as a look at the car's features list shows. It includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with three drive settings to match the Mustang's set-up to the road conditions ahead. Meanwhile, the Limited Slip Differential (LSD) works automatically to detect and prevent a wheel spin to maximise the car's traction.
The magnificent Mustang is on sale at Allen Ford Group today, where you can test drive the model to experience its raw power first hand. Enquire with your nearest dealership to find out more about the vehicle and all your purchasing options.
