The new Ford EcoSport is smart, capable, powerful and fuel-efficient. Featuring SYNC with AppLink, a technology that enables you to access your smartphone's apps on the move, it's an entirely new type of SUV: a Smart Utility Vehicle. One look and you can see this vehicle is built for purpose. Its high ground clearance, front and rear skid plates and rear-mounted spare wheel are enough to tell you that. But there's more to the new Ford EcoSport than utility alone - a lot more.
The EcoSport’s extra ground clearance means you will not even notice many road problems, while its high driving position gives drivers excellent visibility. Inside the EcoSport is equipped with the driving and infotainment systems. At under four metres in length, it is fairly compact, but with a huge boot it manages to retain a real sense of practicality.
Resembling the interior of the distinctive Ford Fiesta, the EcoSport eschews the increasingly popular beige and keeps its black and grey upholstery. Its spacious interior can comfortably seat five people and the boot space accommodates 346 litres. The rear seats can be folded into a 60:40 position, giving the EcoSport a total of 560 litres of interior space. It comes with plenty of internal storage, including underseat storage and a sunglasses compartment. It’s even equipped with a glove box with a chiller, as well as a driver’s arm rest.
The Ford Ecosport comes with three different engine options – the 1.0-litre EcoBoost, 1.5-litre Duratec, or the 1.5-litre Duratorq, giving its drivers the choice between using diesel and petrol fuel. Its top speeds range between 99mph and 107mph, and it has a total combined fuel economy of up to 61.4mpg. Still the EcoSport retains plenty of power, going from 0-60mph in around 13 seconds. As well as power, it also possesses its environmental credibility, with carbon emissions in this range as low as 120g/km. The 1.0 litre version has a power output of 120 PS (88 kW; 118 bhp), plus 170 n/m (125 lb/ft) of torque. The turbocharged engine includes Ti-VCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing), making up the engine’s peak torque starting at 1,300 rpm. The Ford EcoSport is able to tow up to 700 kg of weight.
The Ford EcoSport stands out with its Deep Impact Blue exterior, as well as regular red, black and grey, along with its black roof, mirror caps and black-finished 17-inch alloy wheels. A rear diffuser can be added for a sportier exterior, plus privacy glass is also available.
Interior trims include a 4-inch colour display, and a black and grey instrument panel, central console and door boards.
Titanium models come with partial leather seats as standard, along with chrome surround rings and chrome tabs on the window switches. Access to the parking break level has been improved with its relocation to closer to the driver's seat. An optional Winter Pack adds heated windscreen and seats, and ducting at floor level around the rear seats, improving comfort during cold weather.
The EcoSport's Intelligent Protection System (IPS) and its high strength steel safety cage provide robust safety and a high level of reassurance. Each model includes a sensitive Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) which includes a Traction Control System (TCS). It is fitted with strategically placed airbags to provide protection for both driver and passengers.
This Ford is equipped with a voice-activated infotainment system, a climate control system, and audio controls built into the steering wheel. The car also has electric ORVM control, power windows and headlight controls.
